Palmerston North Junior Neighbourhood Support Programme won the Educational & Child Youth Development award at the Trust Power Community Awards held in Palmerston North on 2nd September 2009. Snr Sgt Sue O'Neil and Warren Wealleans, Neighbourhood Support Field Officer, were honoured to receive the award on behalf of P/N Neighbourhood Support at the ceremony and are sure to receive good publicity for the Programme as a result. Wallasey is not as affluent as it was. In fact, upon my revisit, it was hard to imagine that it ever was what I remember it to be - even through my own rose-tinted glasses. This is an interesting article from the North East of England. The call is for a resurgence of Neighbourhood Watch (as is known in the UK) along with Police to provide a role similar to the Neighbourhood Support Liaison Officer, highlighted within the refreshed Memo of Understanding between New Zealand Police and Neighbourhood Support New Zealand.
