Palmerston North Junior Neighbourhood Support Programme won the Educational & Child Youth Development award at the Trust Power Community Awards held in Palmerston North on 2nd September 2009. Snr Sgt Sue O'Neil and Warren Wealleans, Neighbourhood Support Field Officer, were honoured to receive the award on behalf of P/N Neighbourhood Support at the ceremony and are sure to receive good publicity for the Programme as a result. It occurred just after I returned to Wellington from a visit to the Wirral to see my mum. I did email them but didn't get a response but the event is worth highlighting. Wallasey is not as affluent as it was. In fact, upon my revisit, it was hard to imagine that it ever was what I remember it to be - even through my own rose-tinted glasses.
